Dear Conchological Citizens of the Net;

    Welcome to our humble seashells and Conchology site.  We have enriched our  Features section recently, and hope you will  find them enjoyable and interesting......or you could just skip directly to the Worldwide Specimen Shells lists  (seashells and landsnails) (hint, hint!), or the new Exeptional Items page, where we put some of our Brightest and Best!

Feature Guide

1)Illustrated Checklist of the Living Conidae: A well researched annotated and illustrated checklist of the species, subspecies and described (i.e., named) forms of Living Conidae: over 900 taxa covered.

2) Pecten PalacePectinidae was my "First Love" in the shell world: the most popular bivalve family, it has incredibly variable colors and patterns guaranteed to please almost everybody.

3) Weird and Fun Facts: From my Internet Wanderings, a VERY miscellaneous compilation of those begged, borrowed and stolen bits of information  - some that are fun to pull out of your hat at a party (ex: "On the average piece of green land, there are over 50,000 spiders!"), while other entries explore interesting topics in more depth - for your eyes only!

4)  SPACE SHELLS ART GALLERY:We are pleased to offer a SPLENDEDLY Bizzare collection of imaginative Shell Art (all seashells, no landlubbers!) sent our way from far away land of Taiwan. The images will charm your socks off, so why not take a peek!! Space Shells Gallery

5) Worldwide specimen shells list (seashells and landsnails): (Updated November 19, 2008): We try to offer a wide variety of families and species (of both seashells and landsnails)- hopefully a little "something for nearly everyone"!! Both our grading and our pricing policies are conservative, to give you the best value for your "shell-shopping-dollar", and our returns policy is absolute. I try to obtain a good selection of UNUSUAL ITEMS- specimen shells of unusual color, pattern, shape ("FREAKS"), or from uncommon localities. Also, i am fascinated by the Variation of seashells, especially within any given population, and whenever possible, put together the most contrasting Variation Sets or Series possible, given the material at hand- i urge you, the Gentle Customer, to give these a try- you may be QUITE pleasantly surprised!!

6) Conchological Links Page:This is a "Best-of-the-Web" seashells & such affair, where YOU get an opportunity to nominate your favorite shell-related sites in various categories, such as "Best Designed Conchological Site", "Best seashells or landsnails Pictures", Most Useful Specimen shells Links Site" and "Best All-Round Conchological Site". Why not take part in the fun??!

7) Ecological Resources on the Web:(use the "Back" function to return here.)  A "Links-to-Links" page, to point the reader towards the most comprehensive and useful sites related to general Ecological and Marine Conservation topics, issues and organizations. It also has a semi-random (but hopefully interesting!) selection of arcticles on Marine Conservation issues (but no specimen shells or seashells!)

6) Gallery of Shell Images: A collection of selected images of some of the more beautiful and interesting seashells, pairs and sets we have sold: some good stuff, so why not take a look?
7) An Introduction to  Shell Collecting: We're just starting to develop a range of information and resources for people new to the Hobby of Shell Collecting - this section will grow accordingly, so check back every now and then, to see what we've come up with!

Visit PiecesOfVermont.com and plan a vacation getaway. (good link-exchange site!)

8)WANT Lists (Yours, ie!): .For your convenience, we have a Wants & Wishes Bulletin Board where you can post your specimen shells (seashells, landsnails, fresh-water: whaterver you like!) want-lists, be they general (eg: "any large, attractive "Showcase" shells"), or very specific (eg: "Freak Cypraea auratium Gmelin wanted!") I promise to check it frequently, and if I have something you request, I'll promptly offer it to you!! If i don't have it, I'll go looking for it. Please note that anyone can supply your posted wants and/or wishes if they like, since the board is offered as an open-ended service to all those who wish to ask, in hopes of someone "answering their call". SO, as long as you are extra-careful about replies from people you do not know, what can you lose??

Local Species:   Due to the fact that i curate local museum collections and am doing taxonomic  work with local species, i simply cannot sell them, or any other species from  Canada or adjacent waters, with the exeption of a few abundant commercial species such as Placopecten magellanicus Gmelin. and a few other very common seashells.
